Contemporary Short Form Video
January 19, 2005 to March 19, 2005

Featuring artists from approximately 20 different countries, this international survey brings together recent video works that are structured around a single situation, action, or individual.

Combining narrative economy with quasi-documentary approaches, many of the participating artists reinterpret the process-oriented concerns of performance and conceptual art from the 1970s, while exploring an expanded social and psychological landscape. Ranging from controlled studio situations to interventions in the flow of everyday life, their work shares an interest in singular situations that generate complex meanings.

Generous lead support for Irreducible is provided by Ronald and Anita Wornick. Generous support for CCA Wattis Institute programs has been provided by Phyllis C. Wattis and by Judy and Bill Timken. Additional support provided by Grants for the Arts/San Francisco Hotel Tax Fund.
